Artist Statement

Kathryn Amisson was born in Manitoba and raised on the west coast on British Columbia.  Mostly self-taught, she has become well known for her landscapes and seascapes.

Fascinated by the patterns formed and the light diffused by the clouds constantly changing in out skies, Kathryn explores the countless artistic challenges.  Her focus from the softness of pastel on paper to the bold dramatic impact of oil on canvas has indeed been a journey of discovery.

"It is the effects of light that continue to fuel my creativity.  I delight in nature's ever-changing palette.  A shoreline once cloaked in the softness of a morning mist can be transformed towards day's end by the glowing rays of a setting sun.  The unceasing diversity of nature excites me, inspires me, and will forever be my interpretive challenge."

Kathryn is proud to be one of the "Artists in Residence' at the now well known event, Painters @ Painter's, held annually at Campbell River, BC.  Invited since its' inception in 1995 she has participated every year along with such renowned artists as Ted Harrison, Fenwick Lansdowne, Robert Genn and Grant Leier just to name a few.

Kathryn and her husband, Graeme Roberts, reside in Brentwood Bay, BC where she devotes her full time to her much loved profession.  Her work has been purchased by individuals and collectors worldwide and Kathryn's efforts in aiding and contributing to her chosen group of charities is well acknowledged and recognized.
