SUE HETHERINGTON

Sue Hetherington was born in Vancouver and has resided in many areas of the province. She studied art at Capilano College, Kwantlen College and the University College of the Fraser Valley where she was awarded the top Fine Arts scholarship. After graduating in both Fine Arts with a painting and printmaking specialty, her paintings and drawings were exhibited in numerous group shows. In October of 2000 she was awarded Senior status in the Canadian Institute of Portrait Artists for her figurative painting and portraiture. Her work is in collections in Canada, Europe and the USA.

Grounded in an extensive background of traditional approaches to painting, she is now exploring a more abstract and experimental direction.  Her primary interest is the creative process and it is important to her that her works convey the energy and passion involved in the act of painting.

Her current series is inspired by the sea and sky and these works express an internal vision as much as they express her love for the physical landscape. They come from a sense of openness, the vastness of endless possibility and the beauty that encompasses us.
